Getting to know Australian Rail......

The Iron Road team welcomed two teams of specialist CREC engineers to the Adelaide office who will be reviewing and working in house on the Central Eyre Iron Project. As a matter of familiarisation, a number of trips were organised for the group including a day trip to Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) head office where a significant portion of the rail network is logistically managed. The group was shown around the rail network management system at ARTC. This was followed by a visit to SCT logistics depot in Penfield, one of the rail freight companies in South Australia. Here, the group were given the opportunity to look inside a locomotive train at SCT and shown through the maintenance workshop. The visit offered the group an understanding of the way rail operates in Australia and the safety standards required to do so.
