Dr Cassidy has been an international private capital investor since the 1990s. He holds a degree in geology and a first class honours degree in chemistry from the University of Tasmania and a PhD in coal science from Monash University.
Mr Ellis has had a long and distinguished career in business, particularly in the resources sector. Mr Ellis’ career included three decades at BHP, chairing the company from 1997 to 1999. He also served on the boards of a number of listed companies and governing bodies including Newcrest Mining, Aurora Gold, the International Copper Association, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, the International Council on Metals and the Environment and the American Mining Congress.
Mr Ellis is the former Chairman of Alzheimers Australia (NSW), former Chancellor of Monash University, former President of the Minerals Council of Australia and former Chairman of the Australia-Japan Foundation and the Australian National Occupational Health and Safety Commission.
Mr Ian Hume's career in the resources industry stretches back several decades, primarily in the fields of managed fund investments, capital raising and project development. Mr Hume was a Founding Partner of The Sentient Group, a manager of closed end private equity funds specialising in global investments in the natural resource industries.
Prior to the founding of The Sentient Group, Mr Hume was a consultant to AMP’s Private Capital Division.
Mr Chipman is a private equity investment professional at Sentient Equity Partners and represents Iron Road’s major shareholder, the Sentient Global Resources Funds. Since 2013 he has been engaged with Iron Road management in the areas of project optimisation, commercial evaluation, business development, capital raising and finance planning activities.
Prior to joining Sentient, Mr Chipman was a sell-side analyst with Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Citi covering global diversified miners as well as midtier and smaller capitalised companies in the natural resources sector. He has a chemical engineering background and 20 years of combined industry, commodity and equity capital markets experience.
Mr Ingle is a geologist, having graduated with a BSc (Hons) and MSc in geology from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and a MBA from the Graduate School of Business, Curtin University of Technology, Perth. Mr Ingle has been General Manager with Iron Road since its inception in 2008 and has thirty years’ experience in the resources and engineering industry in southern Africa and Australia. His work experience encompasses underground mining, tunnelling, quarrying, mineral exploration, project development and business improvement. He has held senior positions with various global companies such as LHPC (JV), Barrick Gold Corporation and Rio Tinto.
Mr Kopias is Certified Practising Accountant and Chartered Secretary with over 20 years’ industry experience in a wide range of financial and secretarial roles within the resources industry. As an accountant, Mr Kopias worked in numerous financial roles for companies, specialising in the resource sector – including 5 years at WMC Resources Limited’s Olympic Dam operations, 5 years at Newmont Mining Corporation - Australia’s corporate office and 5 years at oil and gas producer and explorer, Stuart Petroleum Limited (prior to its merger with Senex Energy Limited). He is currently the CFO and Company Secretary of numerous ASX listed entities and has other business interests with numerous unlisted entities.
Mr Second holds a B.Sc.(Mech) Eng. degree from the University of Cape Town, a Government Certificate of Competency, Mines and Works (R.S.A.) is a member of the Project Management Institute and MIEAust.
Mr Second spent 10 years in the hard rock and coal mining industries in South Africa and 25 years in mining construction projects, both surface processing and underground infrastructure. He has performed a variety of roles from project and commissioning engineer to Study, Construction and Project Manager.
Mr Scholz has been actively supporting farmers and rural communities for the last 35 years. He is a former President of the South Australian Farmers Federation and Vice-President of the National Farmers Federation, a former member of the Australian Landcare Council representing South Australia, a former Director of the South Australian Ports Corporation and was Mayor of the Wudinna District Council for ten years immediately prior to taking on the Stakeholder Engagement role at Iron Road, a position he has held since 2013.
Mr Scholz also has a keen interest in rural health and was one of the first Rural Counsellors in South Australia. He held the Chair of Mid-West Health and Aged Care Inc for ten years, the aged care provider across three local Government areas incorporating three hospitals and is currently Deputy Chair. Mr Scholz also manages the family farm, held in the same family since original land selection 105 years ago, located near Wudinna in South Australia.
Mr Green is JBS&G’s National Manager for environmental impact assessments and government approvals. He has over 20 years’ experience in environmental management, community engagement, government negotiations, independent peer reviews and project management as well as due diligence and feasibility studies.
Mr Green is a well-recognised leader in his field and has broad technical expertise in management systems, environmental and development legislation, radiation protection, biodiversity conservation, greenhouse gas reduction strategies, sustainable water supply development, airborne emissions and tailings management.
Mr Green uses this knowledge and experience in directing environmental impact assessments to achieve successful government approvals for infrastructure and resource industry clients. Mr Green has worked with Iron Road since early 2012.
EPBC approved by the Federal Minister for the Environment and Energy
Approval from the Federal Minister for the Environment and Energy under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1991 was given on 9 March 2018. The approval was required in relation to the proposed Cape Hardy port only, in particular the potential of increased shipping movements in the Spencer Gulf to impact on the Southern Right Whale population.
