Community Engagement Plan approved by the Director of Mines, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC)

Iron Road’s Community Engagement Plan (CEP) has supported the company’s engagement activities for the Central Eyre Iron Project since 2011. The CEP has evolved through annual reviews and updated to take into consideration local knowledge and stakeholder feedback, and also reviewed in line with DPC’s “Guidelines for Developing a Community Engagement Plan for Mining Operations”.

A condition of Iron Road’s Mining Lease 6467 granted on 3 May 2017 is that the company’s CEP must be submitted to the Director of Mines for approval.

Iron Road is pleased to advise that notification of approval by the Director of Mines was received on 27 October 2017.

The CEP can be viewed here.

Draft Summary - Program for Environment Protection and Rehabilitation

Iron Road is currently in the process of developing a Program for Environment Protection and Rehabilitation (PEPR) in relation to its Mineral Lease 6467. The PEPR must contain details of how Iron Road will manage and monitor the environmental outcomes of the mine which were initially developed through the Company’s Mining Lease Proposal (MLP) and are now conditions of the Mineral Lease.

The PEPR Summary document sets out environmental outcomes and draft measurement criteria for Air Quality, Noise and Vibration, Surface Water and Groundwater, Traffic, Mine Closure and Native Vegetation, all of which have been raised by stakeholders as having the potential to impact on surrounding farming businesses.

Your feedback on the draft document will assist Iron Road in finalising the measurement criteria for each of those environmental outcomes. Project Communications and Upcoming Engagements & Events

CEIP Project Communications and Upcoming Engagements & Events - August 2017

Talking Topic Round Table Sessions

Iron Road, with the assistance of community input, developed a program called Talking Topic Round Table Sessions. These sessions were established in response to ongoing stakeholder feedback regarding the same key themes: air quality; water; visual amenity; mine closure and rehabilitation; economic outcomes and social outcomes.

The Talking Topics were designed around the technical aspects of each key issue, addressing community expectations and providing relevant information from findings of the Technical Reports undertaken as part of the mining lease process.

CEIP Community Perceptions Survey

As part of Iron Road’s commitment to continual improvement, the Company undertook a community perceptions survey across Council area’s directly impacted by the Central Eyre Iron Project (CEIP). This survey was facilitated by an independent Adelaide research firm, Square Holes and conducted randomly via telephone. The purpose was to seek current community perceptions on the benefits and challenges that may be a result of the CEIP, assess Iron Road’s current engagement process and inform the Company’s engagement plan going forward. This will serve as a baseline for future surveys that may be developed to measure changes in community perceptions.
